Dakar title defenders, Nasser Al-Attiyah and navigator Mathieu Baumel suffered with mid-stage navigation, losing 17min 46sec. Fernando Alonso and navigator Marc Coma rolled their Toyota Hilux shortly after starting the 680-kilometre stage when crossing a steep sand dune.
